molly may ceramics

I'm Molly, a ceramic artist based in South East London with a background in painting and printmaking. My practice brings these disciplines together, treating clay as both a functional form and a surface for image-making.

Mark-making is central to my work. I use techniques such as wax resist to reveal and interrupt areas of glaze, allowing the warm clay body to emerge through darker surfaces. The process has a connection to monoprinting: each mark is direct, negative space becomes part of the image, and every piece develops differently through layering, removal and firing.
